Fuel Pressure Problems
Fuel pressure is of extreme importance for your car’s engine. It takes care of proper fuel supply. Luckily, I’ve had only once problem with fuel pressure. The easiest way to notice the problem is to test for it while driving. You won’t see any problems until you press the accelerator and experience no acceleration. That is a good indicator of fuel pressure problem.
Another important thing is to install pressure gauge for fuel. That will give you a strong evidence whether or not is your fuel pump working properly, or to say use other words – if it’s in good condition or not. Gauges are useful because you can diagnose it very fast.
Prices of gauges can vary a lot, they can go from 15 to 200 dollars so bear that in mind when buying one. One could say that you get what you pay for. That is true in this case as well, even though there can be seen exceptions. Fuel gauge is important if you are constantly tweaking your engine. If you are making adjustments to pressure, gauge is absolutely must. It is the best to buy it in combination with an aftermarket adjustable fuel pressure regulator. That way you will save both money and time when installing those two pieces that will improve your car’s performance.
On a side note, if you’ve got fuel pump problems, gauges can be rented in your auto part store. After you install it, you can test your pump. My advice is to do it first thing in the morning because the engine will be cooled and you will receive correct information that isn’t affected by other factors as if it would be when the engine is hot.
